Ladies and Gentlemen, girls and boys… and Jandles, as you don’t fit into any of them categories.
Thank you Steve
I would like to thank Steve for those sincere words and both yourself Steve and Sue for the kindness and generosity that you have both shown me, not only in preparation for today, but from the first moment that we met two years ago.
You must have been surprised when Alina said she was bringing a boy to your… let’s just say 40th, birthday celebrations. You both met me with a smile of incredible inquisitiveness before we all sat down for a lovely meal and frankly quite bizarre conversation.
You’ll have to ask one of the Coppell clan to elaborate on the details.
Anyway, quickly moving on…
Sue & Steve
So I’d like to again thank you so much everything you have done, for welcoming me so openly into your family and, most importantly for giving me your blessing to marry your beautiful daughter.
I feel very proud to be able to say that I am your son-in-law and will always do my best to live up to your expectations and promise to take care of Alina… and of course do everything she tells me to do…
…now I’m not saying she’s bossy
…but I know my place!
Thank you to guests
On behalf of my wife and I… and I’m thrilled to be able to say that, I would like to thank everyone here today for sharing our very special day with us. We know it’s not easy for everyone to simply wander over to Cyprus for this wedding so it’s amazing that so many of our friends and family have made the effort to be here. We are truly humbled and I mean that sincerely.
Special thank you travellers
I would like to say a special thank-you to those of you that have had a grueling trip whether that means coming from Australia… on a dodgy airline, or travelling with newborn children.
We just hope you’re enjoying your time here as much as we are.
Mother and Father
I also want to say a huge thank-you to my mother and father.
In different ways, you’ve both always been there for me so thank you both for all your advice and support throughout the years.
Now I don’t want to sound even more like an idiot but I do quite like myself. I think I’m a nice guy who has good morals and values (despite what my liar of a brother is just about to say) and I can only thank you for raising me to be the person I am today.
I want to say a thank-you to Chris & Jandles for agreeing to be our Ushers and in doing such a great job for us today. You have taken a lot of the worry out of the jobs that needed doing and have done everything that we need.
No thank you speech would be complete without saying a very special thank-you to Kate, Danni, Robyn and Wren, our lovely bridesmaids.
I am sure you will all agree on how beautiful they look and I will always treasure the picture in my mind of you all walking with Alina down the aisle.
The Best Blokes
Beck, you’re my Best Boy today and I hope you know that you’ve always been my favourite nephew.
You’ve done a great job today of taking care of the rings.
When I first asked you to stand with me up the front it’s fair to say that you were very unimpressed. I think your words were “I’m not helping you out, I don’t want to work, I want to make sandcastles”. Well I’m glad you’ve changed your tune as you’ve been a great help and look extremely dapper in your little outfit. Thank you for being my best boy.
Another huge thank you goes out to my brother and best man, John.
8 years ago you gave me the honor of standing next to you as you married Debs and I’m chuffed you’ve been standing next to me today.
At this point I’m told that I should be telling you that he’s a compulsive liar and that you should not believe a word that he says. We’ll that’s too cheesy so instead I’ll just subliminally keep stressing that he’s a compulsive liar and that you should not believe a word that he says.
John organised a fantastic stag for myself and the guys in York. I didn’t get lost, shaved, sellotaped to a post, handcuffed to a sheep, arrested, or humiliated (despite what the other lads tried to do). I did end up with whiplash and no skin on my knees, bruised butt cheeks and a swollen testicle… but a great weekend nonetheless. Thank you
Although it seems like we’ve already had a lifetime together, it’s been a fraction over two years.
As most of you will be aware, we met though match.com, I told the website about what my perfect match would be and it delivered me Alina.
Our meeting and first few dates were amazing but i do judge you slightly for continuing to date me after our third kind-of date. Alina met up with myself and Jandles in Clapham after I’d spend most of the day drinking in Wandsworth… i’m not really an alcoholic, but yes, I was a sleepy mess and yes, got thrown out of a bar we were in for being amazing… and by amazing, I mean drunk… and asleep.
We spent an incredible day the next day in Greenwich park but on my way home had a funny turn.. maybe it was the night before coming back to haunt me, but I think it was more the fact that on reflection of the weekend, I realised that I was falling deeply in love with you. I went home that night and looked through my bucket list. I got quite emotional when I realised that everything I wanted to do in my life going forward, I needed you by my side.
Now Alina has the most amazing heart and we really can’t spend enough time together.
I would even have taken you on my stag weekend if I was allowed!
You don’t me to point this out but I would like to acknowledge how incredible Alina looks today. Your dress is simply stunning and you really do look like a Cypriot goddess.
While most people on their wedding day describe it as the happiest day of their lives, I hopefully won’t – it implies that from tomorrow everything’s downhill and that’s just simply not the case.
I don’t have to hope that our future together will be a happy one… I know it will be, because every day I wake to find that I love Alina more than day before.
You really have made me the happiest and proudest man alive today and I’m eternally grateful that you’ve agreed to spend the rest of our lives together.
So lets have a toast to everyone
